FROGS: Frailty and sarcopenia Outcomes in emergency General Surgery

This was the flagship project conceived by previous WRC executive members, Malcolm West, Philip Pucher and Nathan Curtis. This was an NIHR funded, trainee-led and delivered observational study interrogating the effect of CT measured body composition and frailty scores on mortality in patients admitted with an acute surgical pathology. The first paper from this study has been published in the prestigious Annals of Surgery, which has the highest impact factor of any surgical journal.
